What We Believe AT lone oak baptist Church

  • ABOUT THE SCRIPTURES

We hold that the writings of the Old and New Testaments were verbally and fully inspired by God, and that they are infallible and inerrant (John 17:17). (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Peter 1:19-21). The Bible was actually written by God (Hebrews 12:2). We hold that God, in His omnipotence, kept His Word and His sayings for all time (Genesis 1:3; Psalm 12:7; Deuteronomy 29:29; Luke 5:1; Mark 7:13; Hebrews 4:12). Our sole authoritative source for matters of faith and conduct is the Bible.

  • ABOUT GOD

The three unique persons that make up the one and only God are God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 44:6; Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19-20; Corinthians 13:14). Each member of the Godhead has the same divine qualities, is eternal, has equal power, and is similar in nature (John 4:24; 1:1-2; 5:21, 23; 17:3; 1 Corinthians 8:6). He is the eternal source of life and the architect of everything that exists (Exodus 3:14; Jeremiah 32:17; John 5:26; Colossians 1:16-17). God is unquestionably holy. He is all-pervasive, all-knowing, all-powerful, and unchangeable (Leviticus 11:44-45; Psalm 139:7-10; Proverbs 15:3; John 3:20; Job 42:2; Malachi 3:6; James 1:17).

  • ABOUT JESUS CHRIST

God is Jesus Christ (John 10:30; 20:31). He was made manifest in the flesh and is eternal (John 1:1, 14). He is the second member of the Trinity and had neither beginning nor end when He was created (Micah 5:2). He was born of a virgin and was conceived by the Holy Ghost (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:20-23). Jesus was a man who led a spotless life on earth and who, in order to atone for the sins of mankind, willingly, sacrificed, and died on the cross at Calvary (Hebrews 4:15; Isaiah 53:4-6; 1 Peter 2:24).

  • ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

God is the Holy Spirit. the third person of the Trinity, forever existing. He shares a fundamental equality with God the Father and God the Son (John 4:24; Acts 5:3-4; Matthew 25:19). The Holy Spirit's ministry in a believer's life consists of indwelling, sealing, empowering, directing, teaching, and filling (Romans 8:9, 11, 16; 1 Corinthians 6:19; Ephesians 1:13, 14; Acts 1:8; John 16:13; John 14:26; Ephesians 5:18). The world is rebuked by the Holy Spirit for its sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8). For the sake of strengthening the body of Christ, He sovereignly bestows spiritual gift(s) on every believer (Romans 12:6–8, 1 Corinthians 12:8–11, Ephesians 4:11–12).

  • ABOUT SIN

The violation of God's law is sin (1 john 3:4). It is the inability to live up to God's expectations (Romans 5:6). It falls short of expectations (Romans 3:23). Because of Adam's disobedience in the garden of Eden, every human being is born with an inherited sin nature (Genesis 3:6; Romans 5:12), making every man a sinner. Because of this sin nature, all men are under death's sentence (physical, spiritual, and eternal) (Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:11, 15).

  • ABOUT SALVATION

Salvation is a free gift from God that can in no way be earned through doing good deeds (Romans 6:23b; Titus 3:5). It is entirely by God's grace (Ephesians 2:8–9), thanks to the worth of Jesus Christ's shed blood (Romans 3:24-26). Repentance and faith are essential components of salvation (Acts 2:38; 20:21). An individual is forever secure and cannot lose his salvation once he turns from his sins to God and believes in Christ (1 Thessalonians 1:9). (John 3:16, 36; Ephesians 1:13; 1 John 5:11-13). When a person is saved, they are justified (Romans 5:1). He is sanctified positionally (Hebrews 10:10) and progressively (1 Thessalonians 3:1) as he advances in the grace and knowledge of the Lord.

  • ABOUT HELL

Hell is a real location where punishment lasts forever. All those who reject the salvation provided through Christ will spend eternity in Hell, which was prepared for the Devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41, 46; Luke 16:19-31 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9). "In hell, man will suffer hell fire eternally for his rejection of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  (Matthew 25:41; 46.)

  • ABOUT HEAVEN

In reality, God actually resides in heaven (Matthew 6:9). All those who have placed their confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation are currently being prepared for it (John 14:1-3). Christ came down from heaven, and after His earthly work was over, He ascended back there following His resurrection. Christ is currently making intercession for the saints while seated in Heaven at the right hand of God the Father. Upon death, every believer enters God's presence in Heaven (Mark 16:19; Acts 1:11 Romans 8:34; 1 John 2:1, 2:2 Corinthians 5:8).

Bro. Henry Stovall

We are happy to have Bro. Henry as our supply pastor. He was our pastor from 1982-1990 and most recently brought our Homecoming message in 2023. He and his wife, Karen, live in Bryan. They attend Live Wires at Lone Oak each month and are a great blessing to our congregation.

Bro. Derrick Neill and his wife, Lisa, accepted the call to another ministry. Our church is actively seeking a new pastor and we are looking forward to what God has planned.

LIFT:

Ladies in Fellowship Together

Living in a society where unbiblical ideas are prevalent leads to erroneous ideas about God's plan and purpose for a Christian woman, wife, and mother. Instead of focusing on what society teaches women, we assist them to fulfill God's plan and mission for their life.

With this ministry, women are inspired and instructed to know and study God's Word, comprehend the value of a regular prayer life, recognize the power of leading a separated, holy lifestyle unto the Lord, and carry out their responsibilities as godly wives and mothers. Our aim is to be consumed by God and His plan for our lives so that we can have an impact on our churches, homes, and families.
